24/03/22: COVID-19 BOOSTER VACCINATION FOR CHILDREN 12 TO 17 YEARS OLD
The Ministry of Health would like to inform the general public that despite the planned roll out of COVID-19 booster doses for children between 12-17 years old, only 79.7% of children in this age group have been vaccinated with the 3rd booster dose against 93% who have been vaccinated with the 2nd dose as of 23.03.2022. Therefore, given the high protection offered by booster doses against the Omicron Variant as suggested by prevailing scientific evidence, the Ministry of Health would like to appeal to the children/parents/guardians of the aforementioned age cohort to kindly avail the booster doses from the nearest health facility at the earliest. It is of utmost importance to get every eligible child vaccinated with boosters before the schools reopen in order to prevent widespread outbreaks of COVID-19 in our schools and to ensure maximum protection from severe disease and hospitalization.
